Lets Go Fly A Kite

So, yesterday Emily and I were at Kroger and saw some kites. So Emily picked out a Nylon Barbie kite. Since I have a new job now today was the first day that I had time to fly it with her. A storm was blowing in so the wind was coming and going in gusts. John and I were trying to get the kite back in the air, and some how we got the kite stuck in a neighbor's tree. I really didn't care, however John being the good guy that he is said it was not right. So he decided the best method to retrieve the kite was to climb a 20ft tree. Poor Emily was so afaird that he was going to fall that she told me she was going to wait by the front door, and if she heard me scream she would call 911. Well, John climb the tree got the kite and did not get injured. I have included some pictures for you.

Here he is at the top of the tree getting the kite.

Right on Target!

A year ago John and I bought, a small hand held .22 cal. for me to have as home protection. John has been wanting a deer rifle for some time now, so when a guy at work said he would love to trade our .22 for one of his deer rifles, John jumped. Which was okay with me, because I was never really raised around guns, and I had really only fired the .22 out at John's cousins house a couple of times. John on the other hand grew up with the motto "Kill it, Eat it, then Stuff it." So now that he and I are looking into moving out of Billy and Nancy's he thought we should look into getting a replacement gun, jsut in case he was ever out of town, and a "bad guy" tried to enter our house I would have protection. John having also been born and raised a Texan, means he truly believes in the moto "Everythings Bigger in Texas" so this time, he wanted to increase the size of the gun.
Now, I have to be very honest with you, as John and the sales rep are telling me all the reasons why a larger caliber is better for me, all I kept thinking (as I am looking at these very large guns) is........... A) that they are very scary B)Cops shot bad guys with these kind of big black guns C) If I get the bigger black gun, I will probally have the same gun as all gangsters out there and D) Its a really big F-ing black gun, and my hands are not that big. So since I don't really want to admit to my manly Texan grown husband that I am afraid of the really big BLACK guns, I take a quick look inside the case and I notice there weren't any really big SILVER guns, thinking quick on my feet that I might have come up with my scape goat. I tell me husband "You know I just don't really like any of these Big BLACK guns, and since I don't see any pretty BIG SILVER guns lets go home." I grab his hand to quickly pull him away, hoping my plan has worked when, the wonderful store Manager walks by and says, "Oh don't you worry I have almost all of these black display guns in Silver in the back." At this point I know I am screwed and I will have to try and explain my logic to these three men who will probally just laugh at my silly, crazy train of thought. They did laugh however, the sales rep showed some empathy in the fact that I was scared by suggesting that John take me up the road to a shoting range, where you can rent a gun for $5 and pay for the bullets you shoot, allowing me to try and fire one of the big guns so that I am not so scared of them.
People, it is at times like these I wish I wasn't just like my Dad, a man who is not going to let anything brake him down. But since, I do have this mentality as soon as John said "you want to try" I had to say yes just to prove to myself that this big black gun was not going to brake me down. John and the gun technician decided to start me out with a 9mm. I watched John fire it a couple of times, and when I felt comfortable enough, I walked up to that line, sent my target (a.k.a. "bad guy")out, wrapped my right hand around the stock, brought my left hand up to support my right, took one good look at where my "bad guy" was, closed my eyes, and opened fire on that S.O.B.
Once I realized there were no more bullets, I looked down to make sure my pants were still dry, and asked John to bring my "bad guy" back up so I could see if I got him good. And if you look at my photo of my "bad guy" I think you will see if he was real his ass was down for the count!
John said that for my first time shooting I did really good, espeacilly considering the fact that my eyes were closed all three time I opened fire. If you are wondering why I had them closed, I will give you the same answer and I did John. If I was shooting a "bad guy" in real life I would grab my gun, give him one good look, close my eyes real tight and open fire!

P.S. I am sorry this entry is so long, since I don't blog much I thought I would try and make you feel like you where he experiencing this with me.

Tag

Okay so Camille informed me tonight that I have been tagged. I didn't really know what that was but she said it was very important to play along. So here goes.

#1 What the most embarrasing thing that has happened to you. (explain if needed)

John's best friend Franky C is really really good at playing pool so when he came down to visit us we decided to head over to Fritz Willy's to play a game of pool. It was just a bunch of guys so I wore my favorite pair of jeans. They are like 3 years old. I bent over sometime during the night and RIPPPPPP!!!! My pants split from my ass to the back of my knee. As you can imagine it was very embarrasing.

#2 Whats the last weird dream you remember having?

Since there is nothing to do here in New Mexico, a bunch of us decieded to go to the Carlsblad Caverns for a fun filled day. Well that night I had a dream that I was being chased through the Caverns by a "bad guy" and I had to find some where to hide. So I found this little cacoon thing and climbed inside. Then the dream went a little "Fire in the skyish" and I was then sealed inside of the cacoon only to be found by aliens and torched.

#3 Whats the biggest mistake you made in last fight you had with your husband.

The biggest mistake I made during my last fight with my husband was instead of just listening to what he had to say about, and say I am sorry and I will try and fix it. I had to fight back and come up with a time that he did the same thing that he was telling me not to do. As I am sure many of you woman know if you do this the fight with continue on and on and on and on and on....

#4 What is the last book you read and did you like it.

I know the old saying is never judge a book by a cover, but that is how I pick all of my books. Picking books this way has never steered me wrong. The last one that I picked was "Unlucky" by Jana DeLeon. It is a pretty good book. But nothing can beat a Sophie Kinsella.

#5 Whats your biggest pet peeve?

I have to say that my biggest pet peeve. Is when stupid drivers decided to come to a complete stop in the moving lane, when they really should be using the turn lane.

#6 If you were looking your very best. Super skinny and in a majorly cute outfit. With perfect hair and everything. And your at a restaurant and you by some odd coincidence bump into some one from your past (exboyfriend, or mean girl from highschool) who would it be ?

I would have to say that I would like to run into John's ex and my ex before we got together.

#7 Whats the one thing your parents did wrong that you feel like you wont do as a parent.

I definately would try and make it so that no matter what my children decide to be involved in I will make sure that John and I will be there.

#8 What part of your body do you hate and what part do you like.

I hate my gut, it makes me feel so fat. I think that when I curl my eye lashes just right I have wonderful eyes.

#9 Whats the one gift that your husband could get you for your birthday that if he did it right you would be so happy to get.

I would love if he would make it seem like we were just going for a weekend get away and then we would pull up to a boat for a week cruise and on board would be my whole family.

Road Trip!!!!

I am so excited I am going on a road trip. John has been in Artesia, New Mexico for the last two weeks on a couple of jobs for his company. He was supposed to be coming home on Sunday, his company asked him to stay two more weeks. He and I don't really want to be apart for that long so on Sunday Otis and I are going to drive the 622 miles to go see him. Everyone keeps saying that I am crazy for driving the 10 hours, but after the trek up to Arizona this summer with Camille, (which I think was 16 hours maybe more) it will seem like a walk in the park. John tells me it is your typical oil field town with nothing to do, but at least I will get to spend some time with him! Who knows I might even add a fun clip of me singing in the car! (Ha Ha just kidding that would be really dangerous task to do while driving)

My Rock.

On November 10th, 2007 I became Mrs. John C. Driver. I can honestly say that was the happiest moment of my life. From the moment that I met John I knew there was something diffrent about him. About a month into our relationship, I remember driving home from church on a Wednesday night and getting a frantic call from my Mom, telling me that my Sister Camille and my niece Addie were in a horrible car accident and to come home as quickly as I could. I was so over whelmed with worry and fear for their lives, I don't even remember the rest of the drive home, or much about that night. But at some point I remember walking into the front room of my parents house, where I found John, who didn't even know my sister on his knees praying for Camille and Addie. As soon as he was finished he went over to my Mom, who was so stressed and worried about how she was going to get out to her daughter and grandbabies, and told her that he didn't have much money but he would be happy to drive her through the night to Camille in Arizona. It was at that moment that I knew this was the man would be the one I would spend the rest of my life with. Over the last couple of years John has been my soild ground when life get a little crazy. I haven't shared this with anyone, but I hope that this story can show you what a wonderful man I married. John if you are reading this Thank you so much for loving family and me. I love you so much! (and yes Camille I was crying when I wrote this)

If She Wasn't So Cute

As I am sure you know John and I live with is Aunt and Uncle. Right after our wedding their dog of 13 years died, and their daughter Emily couldn't wait to get a new puppy, so the next day they got a yellow lab, named Hazel. Since the very beginning I think that Hazel has had it in for me. She seems to know the exact times when I am the only one at home, and it is at those time she decides to chew up things, pee, or crap on the floor. For those of you who know me you know that I have a very big soft spot for animals. Most of the time if I have to punish them I turn right around and love on them because I feel so bad. Hazel being the bright dog that she is has discovered this about me, and no matter how upset I am at her messes she will give me those sweet hazel eyes and I just melt. Since I am not good and punishing her I had the bright idea to put her outside in the garage,.I mean seriously what trouble could she get into out there? Right? I mean she might potty in there, but at least I wouldn't have to smell that horrible smell that lingers in thehouse for thrity minutes. Well I woke up this morning and went to the garage to check on her. Well as you can see in the picture little miss Hazel found a way to spite me and make a mess. She managed to grab a roll of toilet paper out of its package and sherd it into a horrible mess. I swear if she wasn't so dang cute, I would definately have to follow through with punishing her.

Green with Envy

It is so funny, about an hour after John and I said "I do" he told me that in a month I would be telling him I wanted a child. Well, he was wrong on the time frame, it has been two months and after looking and my brother and sister's children on their blogs I can't help but want one of my own. I know that it is best for John and I to wait, but what can I say all Bassetts' make cute kids and I am just dying to know how my kids will look (but don't worry we WILL wait). Not to mention their personalities, all you have to do is go to Jed or Camille's blog and see how adorable each one of my nieces and nephews are. So, I guess until the time is right, Otis (my studly dog) will have to continue to be my little baby.
On another note I have to say that I am so proud of all of my family! I can remember being little kids and talking with my sisters about what life was going to be like when we grew up, how many kids we would have, the type of people we would marry, who would get married first. We were wrong on many of our guesses but, as I think about each member of my family I don't think that life could be better right now!
